Defining the Mill House Colors

When I set out to create a brand book for our home, it was primarily just for fun—a place to collect every paint swatch, fabric sample, and piece of furniture inspiration I’d been saving. But the more I gathered, the more I realized how enjoyable this project really is. Building out a brand for the home we’re creating has become such a satisfying pastime. Recently, I pulled everything together into a binder, including the names of the paint colors used throughout the house.
The five core colors for The Mill House are cherry, peach, elm, and willow. Two or three of these shades were already present when we moved in—they just needed a fresher take. Our kitchen, for example, is currently green but could use some brightening, so we’ll likely skew more emerald or pistachio—similar to the greens featured in the image above.
This brand book is truly a labor of love and very much a work in progress. As I write this, a few more fabric and wallpaper samples are already on their way, ready to be added to the book. Stay tuned for more updates.
